The safety, dignity and wellbeing of people in the Trinity community is, and always will be, the priority for the College.
Gender-based violence is unacceptable.
The National Code recognises the vital role higher education providers play in driving cultural change and sets clear expectations for creating safe study, work, social and living environments. The National Code places specific obligations on student accommodation providers, such as the Residential College, to prioritise safety and proactively address the factors that contribute to gender-based violence, ensuring communities are informed, engaged and supported in both prevention and response.
Trinity welcomes the introduction of the National Code to bring specific focus to gender-based violence. The College is well-placed to implement the Code, building on the proactive approach taken in recent years to review culture at the College (with independent reviews in 2019 and 2025) and existing College policies, which address unacceptable and harmful behaviours. This existing work highlights Trinity’s commitment to creating a welcoming, respectful and safe environment for every member of our community. Trinity fully supports the Code and the outcomes it seeks to achieve.
Trinity’s Gender-based Violence (GBV) Action Plan was developed following an assessment that evaluated the enablers, systemic risks and barriers to preventing gender-based violence. This first GBV Action Plan focuses on the Residential College as a student accommodation provider, while also taking a broader view across all College divisions, leadership and governance.

The College is committed to taking effective action to prevent gender-based violence, to taking timely and appropriate action in response to disclosures and reports of gender-based violence, and to meeting the requirements and expectations of the National Code.
At Trinity, we recognise our responsibility to lead change. We are committed to maintaining a culture where safety, respect and inclusion are prioritised, in line with College values. Our focus is on prevention – addressing the drivers of gender-based violence – and ensuring that anyone who experiences harm is supported.
The introduction of the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence marks an important step forward in this space.
»ÆÉ«app fully supports the objectives of the Code and is taking decisive action through our Gender-based Violence Action Plan. This plan reflects our commitment to reducing the prevalence of gender-based violence and to providing a safe environment for our community.
